Miconazole 2% shampoo is a medicated, antifungal liquid formulation designed to treat fungal scalp infections like tinea versicolor, seborrheic dermatitis, and dandruff. It contains miconazole, an imidazole that inhibits fungal growth by disrupting cell membrane synthesis, also reducing inflammation and sebum in conditions like scalp psoriasis or acne. Applied to the affected scalp during bathing, lathered, and left on for 5 minutes before rinsing, it is typically used twice weekly for 2–4 weeks. Mild irritation may occur. Avoid eyes and broken skin, and consult a dermatologist if symptoms persist.
